My father got me into coin collecting as a kid, I got the books for the state quarters and territories, etc. - I'm giving up on it and just thinking of actually spending the money.
my father got me "into" coin collecting.
however, this is a dwindling hobby with
falling values as well, unless you deal in
super-duper rarities in mint condition.
classic cars are in the same situation.
the average collector is fading away.

Coin collecting is not a dwindling hobby and values don’t fall for silver coins even common ones. The clad state quarters were not a good investment but they are fun to collect.
Not if the annual classic car auctions are any indication.
No kidding. I can't tell you how many times I've been offered A LOT of money for my '72 Chevy 3/4 ton.
My wife has collected all the state quarters. It makes her happy and that's the point. I collected wheatie pennies as a kid. My parents would dump out their change at the end of the day and go thru them and wheaties went into my glass jug. I've got a crap ton of them.
