I'm assuming it's English because I spotted it in an English sitcom from the 1970s.

You only need to watch the first two minutes to see several pieces on the table.

Just curious why you are asking. Is it a favorite tv show of yours?

Looks like a Noritake style from the 50's. Check this site out for a match.

The OP could take a screen shot and email the picture to Replacements Ltd. It might take them some time, but one of their staff could probably figure out who made the set, by the set's shapes, then figure out the pattern.

Every china company has unique and distinctive shapes for their tea and coffee pots. And I believe that the decoration on the china is purple and yellow petaled pansy blossoms and leaves.

Why don't you zero on exactly which pattern you think it is that is a match?

The most distinctive things about this pattern are the round covered butter dish, and the unusual handle on the coffee carafe.

But I'm throwing in the towel. Tired of looking at china patterns with pansies!

You gals have better eyesight (or monitors) than I do. I didn't know what kind of flowers or if they even were flowers.

I sent an email to the Replacements website with a link to the video.

Thanks for your help in solving this mystery.

Of course, it's entirely possible that if and when I find out what this china is, I won't be able to afford it!

So why do you like this china set so much? Otherwise, you're only problem when you find out the maker and the pattern will be... just finding a set to buy. I assure you that it's not an expensive maker or pattern. And considering the type of tv show that was, the set was indicative of something that a basic middle income family could afford to buy.

The set is definitely not Royal Worcester, Doulton or Royal Derby porcelain, not is it Shelley or Royal Albert China either. It's just not anything very fancy or collectible.

And I say this because I am very familiar with British porcelain and china. Also, because as we all searched for images of your desired set, it appears that it's not desirable enough for dealers to bother selling it or for collectors to post examples of it on Pinterest.

You might want to save up for a trip to the UK and go flea marketing to find that set.
