Looks like both lanes of the Cape Fear Bridge will close from early January until mid April.

This is going to be a huge PITA.

"...eastbound lanes heading into Wilmington will close as early as Jan. 3. The westbound lanes will remain open to traffic. Tentatively, on April 8, contract crews will close the westbound lanes to traffic and reopen before Memorial Day."

5 months of major disruptions!

Correct. I just wanted to clarify that the bridge wasn't going to close entirely for a few months - just in one direction. After that, the lanes going the other direction will be closed for a reportedly shorter period, though they're all supposed to be open in both directions briefly between the two closure periods in order to accommodate Azalea Fest attendees.

It'd be a worse disruption when they don't repair it and let it fall down.
