I am aware that there are other, perhaps better college town out there. But I am specifically asking about only these ones. And I am asking which of them offers the best collegiate atmosphere and overall quality of life.
Austin, Raleigh- Durham, Columbus.... Are definitely not college towns
They are definitely the home of their state's flagship public universities and as such are indeed college towns. They just happened to grow into large cities in a way that Athens and Boulder did not. But I did ask about which places have the best college atmosphere. If Austin's size prevents it from being a true color town then maybe don't vote for that one.
I voted for Athens by accident - meant to select Ann Arbor which I find to be truly the best college town. Good mix of university-related and unrelated amenities.
Won't debate which are or aren't "really college towns" but Columbus, OH definite qualifies. It's dominated by OSU.
Pure college town, that exists almost exclusively to support the University/Healthcare System?
Athens, then Morgantown, then Chapel Hill. UMich is definitely Ann Arbor's lifeline, but I think Ann Arbor is more than a college town.
Yes, but I included places like Austin and Columbus because the universities there are still a really, really big deal.
