I don't consider NYC overrated. It's an incredible city. I personally don't find it to be to my liking at this point in my life, but one's circumstances in life make some places less desirable than others.
What I find pathetic are those NYers who claim the city is great because Jay-Z is there.
Nice cheap shot, stay on topic.
I find hippies to be pathetic losers. See what I did there?
New York City:7,855 Film titles Los Angeles: 4,372 Film titles Boston: 1,198 Film titles Chicago: 2,535 Film titles San Francisco: 2,934 Film titles Austin: 1,001 Film titles Philadelphia: 1,180 Film titles
Ok i dont know where you got your numbers but I'm a filmmaker and I have some more realistic numbers:
New York City : 6,847
New York State : 8,424
Texas : 1,718
San Francisco : 1,386
Los Angeles : 10,469
California : 18,467
And one more thing...you are aware that even if the show or film takes place in NY it was probably filmed in Los Angeles. Despite being the most expensive city to film in it is the number one city for filming. The new Spider-man film takes place in NY but it was shot in LA
You clearly missed the point.
Again, New York City is the most captured city on film. I personally couldn't care less if the film was shot in Mars. New York is continually chosen for a reason...because it's so popular and desirable. NYC is what people want to see apparently.

Yeah and LA was captured in nearly 4,000 more films then NYC
Los Angeles is 48% Hispanic and if NYC was as diverse as LA then you would know not every Hispanic is Mexican
oh ok because in l.a u can find jamaicans, haitians, dominicans, filipinos, koreans, guyanese, trinidadians, mexicans etc the same way as in NY right?
have you ever seen a haitian in your life? lol i've been to L.A... you're delusional thinking it's as diverse as nyc

pick a zip code and it will tell u the % the population that is mexican that live in that section of los angeles
1. 90063 34.044271, -118.185237 Los Angeles, California 55,666 84.06 %
real diverse when 84% of 55,000 people are mexican.
It is actually pretty simple. Follow the money. Money and Commerce are what NY controls and weilds power and importnace from. All else is a derivative of this point. And with the money and power comes all else. like it or not, in the allmighty dollar you really find your answer
Actually the bolded is philadelphia but the premis of the Op to me is ill concieved, NY is all that and more. Sure Harvard is the best school, or more celebs may live in Hollywood, more oil produced in Houston, Tech in the bay etc. But at the of the day all of these are significantly influenced from NY and mostly is a center of all the categories anyway. The size and offerings of NYC are amazing but the power is derived from one thing. MONEY - which is its forte
Correction NBC Universal is HQ'd in NYC....Comcast HQ is in Philadelphia and is part owner...the other part owner General Electric is HQ'd in NYC as well.
