Camden, NJ which is right across from Philadelphia. I have absolutely no idea why people would choose to live in such places. Here in Middle America, you could probably get a nice apartment in a very safe small town, near to Des Moines with virtually no crime for about the same price.
I see this block in Camden, and all I can think is with some money and rehabilitation that could be a beautiful street. Unfortunately, it will probably just decay until it collapses then be bulldozed away into vacant lots. What a terrible waste of beautiful buildings.
^ lord no! Nothing like that exists in the USA on that true level. That's more than likely somewhere to the likes of South America or more than likely Southeast Asia.
That looks more like a city in some third world country. If this is a true picture of Detroit that I found then it puts East St. Louis to shame.
That does look like Detroit's skyline, but that picture is definitely photoshopped.
And to the poster that was wondering why people choose to live in these area. Yes you are being naive. 99% of the people that live in these areas don't "choose" live there, and if they could, they would leave.
That pic of the skyline is Manila or something - definitely not the USA. Either way....there are palm trees in the pic.
Edit: I was right!
I looked up "manila skyline slums" and found this website describing how the picture has been passing around with the description of Detroit, but it's actually Manila.
