Good news, IMO!

https://www.wcpo.com/entertainment/l...ends-to-4-days

It’s now only going west to Main Street but at least it’s back in the heart of downtown and not setting right over a freeway. I just enjoy the “ambiance” on 5th more.

In further good news, BLINK will return in 2024!

Hooray! I haven't been to Oktoberfest in a few years, and probably won't make the trip this year, but the festival moving back to Fifth Street is welcome news. I went the first year it was on Second and Third, and the vibe seemed off.

Why only west to Main, though? Seems kinda cramped to me, and takes Fountain Square out of the equation.

Yes, the vibe just isn’t there on Second and Third. Just too open, and with the freeway down below.

It’s only west to Main because of the streetcar, one of the main reasons they claimed for originally moving it. Yes, ideally it should go west at least to Fountain Square.

If we were to ever cap Fort Washington Way, then Second and Third would be good streets to hold the festival on. Until then, the highway noise does kinda throw the vibe off. I did appreciate being less confined though, especially with the heat urban island effect.

I wish they would, that would be a huge game changer for downtown.
