I am choosing between Columbus and Cincinnati for a move from Manhattan NYC and heavily leaning toward Cincinnati. I'm a single "white collar" professional and I will be working from home, so it's really important for me to be in a town with an urban feel to it and lots going on. Museums, nightlife, restaurants, fun, etc. It seems to me that Cincinnati offers a lot in this regard for young single professionals. How is the public transit in Cincinnati to get around the city?

I'm looking for Cincinnati neighborhoods closest to the developed urban areas for housing assuming they are the safest too. Any suggestions?

(I guess if I ever wanted to hangout in Columbus for the greater diversity, I could always drive 1.5hrs.)

Are you looking to rent or buy initially? Budget?

Downtown and Mt. Adams are the two places that come to mind immediately based on your criteria.

A little bit further to the east, Hyde Park, Oakley, and Mt Lookout are hot spots for young white collar professionals, but those neighborhoods are a little more suburban in nature. Each neighborhood still features a nice town square with a good assortment of amenities within a close walkable area.

Public transportation in Cincinnati is very poor compared to Manhattan/NYC. There's a free streetcar downtown that travels in a 3.6 mile loop to Over-the-Rhine and back but it's not an efficient way to get around. It's mostly used by tourists/weekend visitors. The Metro bus network is also not very reliable. You'll want to take your own car for everyday non-alcohol-related activities.
