Hi, What can you say about the Sayler Park area. How safe is it? What are the rents? I am looking for a 1 or 2 bd apartment there due job relocation but cannot find much info. Thank you

Sayler Park is a very safe part of town, but finding an apartment would be tough. What draws you to that area? It's pretty isolated from the rest of the city.

Sayler Park is a small lower-middle class heavily Appalachian neighborhood that historically has had very little violent crime. I'm not sure how often property crime occurs compared to nearby areas but I'd imagine it's not too frequent.

Rental inventory should be low but you'd likely be able to find something for under $1,000/month.

Sayler Park proper is a fairly peculiar place to relocate to though if you don't already have strong personal connections to the neighborhood.

If your work is based in SP, there may be other places on the westside to check out (like Delhi Township or Green Township) that are more convenient for day-to-day living and wouldn't extend your commute by too much.

Default 20 years

I lived in a Sayler Park apartment for 20 years.
The neighborhood has:
1. A community center
2. A Cincinnati Recreation public swimming pool
3. A small privately-owned one-screen movie theater that mainly shows comic book movies
4. Two buses, Routes 32 and 50, although 50 doesn't run very often
5. A bakery
6. A coffee shop
7. A hardware store
8. A public park that has a farmer's market on Tuesday afternoons May through October
9. A food truck that comes every Tuesday afternoon. It's from the FreeStore/FoodBank since Sayler Park is a food desert.
10. Catholic, Methodist, Church of Christ, Episcopal and Presbyterian churches
11. Cincinnati Public Schools grade school
12. Three convenience stores
13. A post office
14. Two gas stations
15. Two public laundromats
16. McDonald's

What SP does not have:
1. A grocery store
2. A Catholic school, which closed two years ago
3. A library
4. Good television reception if you want to avoid cable

Default thought of some more

Sayler Park also has:
1. a hair salon and a barber shop
2. a 9-hole golf course. There is a sandwich grille there that has a fish fry every Friday during Lent.
3. An open-air restaurant, Cabana on the River, along the Ohio.
4. Fernbank Park, which is jointly owned by Cincinnati Recreation and Hamilton County Parks. It has a walking trail, picnic facilities, climbing equipment for children and restrooms.
5. Buddha Barn, a Thai restaurant
6. 13 Below Brewery
7. A bar that I've never been to next to the movie theater.
8. Lots and lots of sidewalks, and the neighborhood is flat.
9. Two Little Free Libraries, at 6610 Parkland Ave. and 6820 Home City Ave.
10. There used to be two festivals. There was the church festival put on by St. Aloysius Church, and the Harvest Festival in October. There was also a 5K run in the summer. They've been on hold because of COVID.
11. The US 50 sale, the third weekend in May, runs through Gracely Drive if you want to set up a garage sale.
I know that the concept of "amenities" on City-Data is museums, plus bars and Middle Eastern and Asian restaurants that are open 24/7. If that is what you seek, you will have to drive to another part of town. Otherwise, I think I've listed you enough "stuff" to keep you busy for a little while.
