I think he could come back in a few years. For right now, he's done. He's toast. But give it a few years, he could be hired somewhere.

I can't stand listening to him, so I really don't care if he comes back or not. Maybe he'll get hired to call minor league games in the middle of nowhere.

Surely he's learned this basic broadcast lesson, though: Always assume the mic is live.

Wait ... Can we somehow use this idea to get rid of Joe Buck, too? He and Brennaman are birds of a feather, always dropping names and talking about themselves more than they talk about the game in front of them.

Like any other "celebrity," he will be back after an appropriate period of contrition.

An insufferable broadcaster, but he'll be back in a couple of years. What he said wasn't that big of a deal, he just used the wrong word and the cancel culture minions rushed to the execution.

I'm familiar with a lot of baseball broadcasters from listening to long-distance AM radio at night. Even a generation ago, the style of Joe Nuxhall and Marty Brenneman just didn't seem to match that of Phil Rizzuto in New York, Ernie Harwell in Detroit, or Richie Ashburn in Philadelphia.

And sadly, Bob "the ol' gunner" Prince in Pittsburgh seemed to lose some of his sense of discretion in the months before his departure.

But beauty lies in the eye of the beholder, and good taste in the ear of the listener; no harm, no foul.

Thom has always resided on the east side of the Cincinnati area. I really don't think this makes any difference, but let's get it correct.
