Concerning Frontier's overall plans for CVG, two tantalizing follow ups - one from the Business Journal and another from the Enquirer:
* http://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2017/01/31/as-it-adds-flights-at-cvg-frontier-also-hopes-to.html

* Southwest's CVG launch could have larger impacts for region
Needless to say, with Frontier's expansion, Southwest's grand entry and possibly that of Jet Blue - plus a rumored British Airways connection - CVG's passenger count will increase considerably in the near future. It never hurts to mention that with Amazon soon to own the day and DHL already owning the night, CVG will become one of the largest air cargo hubs anywhere.

The CVG Board was a political plum mired in scandal. The appointed were probably the worst negotiators of all time enjoying the perks of political patronage. Delta put their heads in the toilet and flushed it. We are only now recovering from the mistakes made by these Friends of Ky Pols.

^ Agreed. Not enough can be said about how much this CVG board, combined with KY politicos and Delta, kneecapped one big, beautiful airport. Yes, there were other major factors involved (for one, the decrease of use in regional jets), but CVG, in its glory days between 2000-2005, ebbed away.

This desperate Delta proclamation comes as no surprise to anyone who knows how systematically and destructively the airline downsized CVG. They employed such tactics numerous times before whenever any other airline ventured onto their turf. It should be obvious to everyone that Delta has no conscience and no shame.

The full article here remains behind a pay wall, but its graphics, alone, are worth a look...
