Looking for a one bedroom apartment or efficiency within walking distance to Xavier University. Can you tell me what areas/streets to stay away from? I looked on Dana Ave. at the Oxford Apartments..seem ok, but when I went around the block, off Reading Rd., the neighborhood looked uhh...questionable.
Please help.

Hi. I'm a former XU student and current alum. I'd be really careful about moving to that side of campus (by the way, this is Avondale). There's been a lot of problems in the past with incidents between kids from the neighborhood and Xavier students. The police had to get involved. The area may not be too bad during the day, but I don't think it's very safe at night. If you choose to live here, use the shuttle to get back and forth. DO NOT walk by yourself at night. Don't bother looking for places near Reading Rd. It's not safe.

I'd recommend looking at places on the other side of campus in Norwood. A lot of students live on that side. You'll have to check it out, but a lot of houses along Cleneay Ave. rent to students. Hope I was able to help.
