Erlanger brand. I can recall buying this in the early 1980's in Connecticut. Whatever happened to it? I believe it was brewed in Erlanger, KY hence the name.

Maybe it is Wiedemann again. I see where thay are back and pumping. There was a Wiedemann beer I really liked, available only on draft. It was called Royal Amber.

What is Wiedemann? Did they market Erlanger under the name Erlanger but brewed it at a company called Wiedemann?

Wiedemann was a Newport brewery. My college roomate's mom drank it; we called it "eagle's [urine]" because of the watery taste and the big eagle on the label. It closed in the early 80s; the current Wiedemann is a different owner.

I vaguely recall Erlanger. I'm not even sure it was a Cincinnati-area brand; it was brewed by Schlitz in the 80s. There was an Erlanger brewery in Philadelphia, but I don't know if it's the same.

Frankly I never heard of Erlanger. I was just guessing. The George Wiedemann Brewing Company was one of the larger local Cincinnati Breweries. They produced what they called Bohemian Style Beer.

I just recognized Wiedemann is back on the market, probably resurrected by Greg Hartman, the same person who brought Christian Moerlein out of the ashes, and is responsible for the Moerlein House down in the Banks. He is trying very hard to bring the old Cincinnati beer brands back on the market, even if only produced in small batches. Among these would be Burger, Hudepohl, Schoenling, Bavarian, and I'm sure some I forgot. Nowhere in the country did they have more brands than we did.

Sorry about pulling your leg over Erlanger, but again never heard of it.

So it was produced by Jos. Schlitz. Had nothing to do with Erlanger Ky. Interesting.

Did anybody else read this?

These are the top 10 Cincinnati-brewed beers: SLIDESHOW - Cincinnati Business Courier

Rivertown, MadTree and Rhinegeist all with multiple beers on the list, not a single Moerlein.

But you are talking all craft beers. And with craft comes high price. Thank you, will take whatever of the old Cincinnati Beers I can find. People who rate beers are bascially snobs, just like those who rate wines. I will just consume what I like wherever I can find it. I don't need to have my ego embellished.
