^ If my budget were $650k, I wouldn't look at P-Ridge. It's a great option for people with a lower budget. Not that it's inconceivable for someone with deeper pockets to prefer it for one reason or another (income diversity probably being a key component; PR Montessori possibly being another).

That's not to say that re-opening Hyde Park Elementary is a bad idea; it's not. It's unfortunate that every neighborhood in Cincinnati no longer has its own neighborhood elementary school.

I guess you didn't realize "those" kids from lower income families attend Hyde Park Elementary along side the "precious offspring".

All of us in the city benefit from having successful public schools.

To everyone who has posted so many wonderful suggestions - thank you! At it's best, this forum is a lifesaver for someone moving to a city that she has never been to before. Thank you, thank you, for your candor and honesty!

What a shining example of magnanimity! <applauds> I confess to having had the same knee-jerk reaction, but it's easy to do when Snide Park is involved. It's also easy to do when you consider the near-wholesale abandonment of the neighborhood high school to "those people." Not that I can blame the Hype Parkers, when the principal cancels Prom over a water balloon fight and then days later some shining examples of femininity storm the building for some bullying payback.

Not everyone is out to totally deplete their estimated budget for a new home. For my next buy I sure hope to keep some money in the bank. Hence I went ahead and put in my 2 cents for some more "affordable" areas (not to beat the financial metaphor to death.)

With deep family roots in NC and many trips there behind me (from the Smokies to the Piedmont to the ocean) I'm still wondering whence the OP will be moving.
