I just sold my 97 blue and white GTS and told myself I would never buy another viper, just because I am older and less willing to put up with compromises.
Now yesterday A new one passes me on the freeway and I think " well maybe this new one is lot more comfortable, it sure looks great" But then I think I'm going to wait till prices droop on used ones and now this price lowering makes it more tempting. I still hate that the new Z06 will probably outperform it by a slight margin and will be more practical, but man that new viper looks good.

I went for a ride in a 2014 about a week ago and while it is a huge step forward compared to the old car the new Viper is anything but comfortable and livable. You're still cramped, it's still too loud to have a normal conversation and your feet still bake in the foot wells. Yeah it's a great looking car that I lusted after in my 20's but today it's off the radar.
I can't speak to the Z06 as they are not out yet but the new Stingray is a really nice livable car that you can drive daily if you choose to do so.
I'm excited about this, my plan was to wait a few more years and sell my 996 turbo to trade up to the 991 turbo, but if the Viper has made significant strides towards refinement, I might go for it instead.
Even if the Corvette out performs the Viper, I'd still take the Viper over it. Three people in my neighborhood have Corvettes, they are everywhere...but I do love their look.
I agree. The c7 vette looks awesome but in a few years there will be tons on the road. I've seen one viper this month and it was a 1997! I have never even seen the new one except at the 2013 NY auto show

Coming from a Porsche I doubt it would be "refined" enough for your taste. Its still a hotbox, with offset pedals. Theyve always been my favorite muscle car that handles though. Partly so because 99.99% of the owners of them cant drive them. Many have experienced the "Viper hook" once, and are are forever terrified of them after tthat.
The C7 is sublime, especially the Z06 version. People are gonna love it and you will see a ton of them soon.
I'd be scared to drive one. Have to go to school to learn how for sure.
