Like that'll ever happen.

One of my plans would require about 100 buildings to be destroyed in Albany Park. The route would go pretty much directly west until Pulaski. Then the tracks would become elevated above Pulaski as the tracks turn north and then again turn west onto Lawrence all the way to the terminus at the Jefferson Park station.

Another idea (probably would require about 200 buildings to be destroyed) would be to keep the tracks south (north might be preferable) behind the buildings that line Lawrence Ave.

Both plans would require the elevation of tracks just east of the Edens to get over both sets of Metra tracks and both expressways until reaching the terminus at Jefferson Park.

My plans would not to join the tracks the Brown Line and Blue Line tracks together. Instead, people would get off the train, walk a short distance and go down the escalators, stairs, or elevator to the Blue Line station.

Sounds like a reasonable and cost-effective route. But when was the last time (this is a serious question) that occupied houses in Chicago have been demolished for the sake of development? And the expansion of O'hare into Bensenville doesn't count.

Off the top of my head one instance would be for the construction of the United Center. A number of homes were torn down to create those vast parking lots around the United Center. The Chicago Stadium probably had one tenth the amount of parking space that the United Center has.

I'm happy that I'll finally have a way to get to the huge sewage treatment facility down there!

It seems like they only picked that terminus because there's available land and an existing rail right-of-way.

do we have any forum members that live in rosemont, pullman or calumet? from the looks of the map, those are the residents that will benefit from this extension. i have only been in those areas a handful of times (calumet perhaps never, since i'm not sure of its norther boundary) but those neighborhoods along with many on the far southside are so car dependent that i don't know that ridership will greatly increase until there is a significant level of density growth in those areas.
