So I just moved into a luxury condo, and when I first moved in I was on vacation and getting acquainted with several old friends. Needless to say I have some late nights of debauchery.

One thing I already don't like is having to deal with the doorman every time I come and go. It's like I'm living at home with my folks.

now I have this stigma, that the doormen here think I'm some wild partier because Ive been out late quite abit the first week I was here.

I guess what I am wondering is how well they mind there business or if they gossip with one another along with the leasing office. I mean, it's my fault if I get stuck with the bad reputration, but I don't run and gossip to the management office when I catch them dozing off in the wee hours.

So I'm basically just trying to gauge whether or not they see this alot of if I stood out like a sore thumb, and they make a fuss over it?

I wasn't falling down drunk, or making alot of racket, but it had to be pretty obvious that I was lit the f up.

I also notice the culture in the building thus far seems to be pretty corporate and formal. Whereas I am rather free-spirited. Not much I can do about that, nor is that any of my concern. I just want to pay my rent and do what I want to do without feeling like I have a nanny.

Doormen could care less if you're drunk, just be a polite drunk and respect the fact that they're stuck working the late shift and everything is fine. The only reason they'd talk to management about anything is if you're making a racket or being belligerent. They're seeing things like married guys bringing home prostitutes, you're most likely not even on their radar.

There is unwritten code in any large apartment complex that the doorman is the best friend of the tenant. At Christmas, you better tip the doorman. That ensures your needs are met. The doorman will have connections to a lot of people, at a lot of restaurants, bars, etc. When I lived in a large building, the concierge was the most popular person in the building.

Unless you cause a problem with other tenants, no one in the leasing office will care as long as you pay rent on time.

Believe me, doormen can keep and have kept far darker secrets than the fact that you stumble in late at night. Stumble in courteously and quietly and he won't have a care in the world.

Doormen have seen it all. They don't care a rat's you know what what time you come home or if you have been drinking as long as you are not loud and disruptive. Be nice to the doormen and they will help you.
