I would like to move to an area which belongs to Charleston School District so my kid can go to Magnet High school(my kid got accepted). I work in Daniel Island. Please recommend some safe and decent neighborhood with easy access to 526, not so far away from Daniel Island. We looked at Oak Terrace Preserve, we really like the convenience of the location, but we don't like my neighbor to be so close to our house and we don't like the detached garage. What other choices do we have? Thank you in advance!
The child needs to be a resident of Charleston County. So, if you want to be nearby to Daniel Island, I think you're going to have to look at Mt. Pleasant around 526 (some wonderful homes and neighborhoods in Mt. Pleasant). You could also look at West Ashley around 526, but I think that might be farther out, parts of North Charleston might work as well.
At what point would it be too far to travel to school? For convenience to AMHS it's obviously not going to get better than Park Circle. There are other houses for sale right in the Park Circle area that are on bigger lots and that might work for you. If you don't mind increasing the drive, then Mt Pleasant might work as DJ said.
AMHS is a good school. My daughter went there back when it was on the old navel base and I'm glad she had that opportunity. Once your kid's been accepted, I'd be reluctant to choose elsewhere.
How does one's child get accepted to the AMHS and not live in Charleston county?
I'm a little confused how someone who works on DI not really know about the Charleston County school districts and what areas around Charleston to live in.
