Here is Patrick resplendent in his winter coat for 2009-10. He is very unusual in that he grows a heavy coat during cold weather and sheds it off in the spring, looking almost like any other DSH. And he has been an indoor cat all his life. He turned 18 years old this past July. I got him from a shelter when a dear old kitty had passed away. They had some cages with glass windows facing the lobby. Patrick was standing up on his hind legs, showing off and doing his best "Pick ME! Pick ME!" when we walked in
This year Patrick's coat came much earlier and is a lot heavier than usual. I wonder if it's a sign of a cold winter like the fur on woolly bears, etc?

Our beloved Oreo.............aka Boy, Beeks (beeks means "big-kitty"), Brian Fantana, Pont Neuf, the Prophet, Tina (come get some ham! -- think Napoleon Dynamite here)..........
Boy was our friend for thirteen years, during which he opened door knobs, banged on our bedroom door most mornings, was known to open the front door, drank with his paws, followed us around like a dog, had zero grace for a cat, jumped on the back of a hound dog, bungee-jumped down the mini-blind cords, sat in the corner of the shower.......and really loved a tasty green olive. R.I.P., Boy.
