No, you haven't done all you can. You could build him a dang catio so he could go outside and be happy and safe. But hey, that would be logical.
Yes, why spend $$ on furniture when a catio would allow this cat to go in and out whenever he wants. After watching Jackson’s video on YouTube about catios, I fell in love with the idea and my cats will be getting one within a year, hopefully. This is a great inspiration for catio ideas and many would cost less than an expensive sofa.
It always surprises me, people who have no embarrassment in admitting the terrible ways they treat their pets. You aren't training them, they aren't learning anything but to fear you when you wield your bottle. It's pure laziness.
Train your cats what you want them to do, keeping in mind they are cats and will behave like cats, provide them with adequate environmental resources, feed them an appropriate diet, and ensure they get enough interactive play time, and you won't need a spay bottle.
I agree, it’s hard to read a post where someone hits their cat. The OP needs to work on understanding how cats think, they’re not people. I’d recommend the YouTube videos from Jackson Galaxy, he’s got a great understanding of how cats think and respond to stress. Yelling and hitting will just make it worse.
I’m so glad.
And it helps relieve the anxiety that was making him pee outside the box making his life a happier one.
My guy never had another accident till he died last September.
I miss him terribly.
Yup. He has completely stopped spraying. I shove half a pill down his throat around 7/730pm and he sleeps ALL night. Gets up at 5am with a meow and is let out. Comes back for breakfast at 7am. Then either takes a nap for a few hours or goes back out. I always bring him inside when I leave the house. Never outside when I'm not home. So he'll go in and out a few times during the day. Dinner at 5pm and he'll hang out on deck until it's time to come inside for the night.
But he has no more pacing anxiety at all. Plus he's lost weight. So double win!

So glad for both you and your cat that you were able to find a solution!
UUUUUGGGGGGHHHHHHH He has started again!!!! I'm increasing the dosage of the Prozac per the vet's ok. Let's see how this goes
Good luck with your cat. My indoor cat quits wanting let out when the weather changes season to staying colder. Maybe your cat won't like it when the fall weather turns cold in your area if it does.
Well, he's still alive! We just bought Purrfect Fence for the yard to help try to keep him in and other cats out. Cost was $650 for 150 ft and I'll start the install and my handyman will help me finish it. Should get it Tuesday.

LOL He's great when he's not spraying my couch or bed
