Not sure how to advise you but...I think you can call GEICO or not
If not...you did say police and EMS responded so I don't think that hit and run can not be claimed.

My wife had a somewhat similar incident

She made a Rt turn on red, a bicyclist darted out she hit the child/student and she checked on him and called the police and parents. My wife apologized to parent and child, father was pissed, and left her phone and insurance info as well as apology. Police issued her a ticket.
I actually really cant recall if we notified GEICO, I assume so, maybe not because there was a ticket.
Police offered that she take an online driver safety course and she did, we paid a fee for her ticket. We offered parent to at least pay for a new bike and they did not take us up on this.
I assume they probably never filed a claim? GEICO did not raise our rates.

Not always - especially if it's vehicle vs pedestrian.

Sounds like they are making a claim against your insurance company as opposed to filing a lawsuit against you.

Your insurance company won't fight liability in court because it sounds like you were at fault if the accident occurred in a crosswalk.

However, sounds like soft tissue type injuries with no broken bones so it doesn't sound like a HUGE claim.
