I have the global entry. Those guys can be brutal and there was no privacy when I went for my interview years ago. They were just drilling this guy next to me over a DUI from the 80’s. I don’t think he was honest about it and he looked pretty uncomfortable.

It’s definitely worth it if you go to Mexico.

The Global Entry is a replacement for my expired Sentri pass. And I do go to Mexico, and lived there for a year five years ago. I moved back to San Diego because I hate commuting.

I have my passport also, but still didn't want the "Federal Limits" notation on my license so I went to DMV and got it. The trick is to make an appt on a Saturday morning right when they open at a small town DMV. I went to Woodland and was in and out in 30 minutes. There was a long line when I left. They just saw my passport and didn't care about any other identification either since I had that. Not sure if they have Saturday hours during Covid though. Easy breezy.

I can’t make an appointment in San Diego. They just aren’t doing it. Their website for the field offices near me say there is no wait, but I always see lines wrapped around the building when I drive by.

I have the passport card and my wife is getting one. It’s just easier than dealing with the DMV.

I have both a passport & passport card. I renewed my DL about a month before Real ID came out.......so, although I have the old style DL, it does not have the "Federal Limits Apply" I am going to get a Real ID , CA ID Card (not a DL).....once DMV gets back to regular business.

I have a passport and passport card, a DL that I had just renewed, and THEN got a CA REAL ID that later needed even more documentation or something bc they messed up. I didn't bother following up on that because I'm more than covered and CA DMV can't seem to do anything right.

They're not even taking appointments yet. They're still backed up with rescheduling appointments from when they were closed. Eventually, they'll catch up and starting taking appointments again.

Once upon a time, AAA offered full DMV services which included DL renewals. Now that's the only thing I think they can't do. This is compounded by closing a lot of DMV offices. There's no reason the state can't relinquish control of that temporarily the way they've altered other rules during the pandemic.

Tell me about it. We went to the AAA off Hotel Circle to get passport photos and were told they weren’t doing them because of social distancing issues.
