I've been working and living overseas with my family for the last 4 years. We are scouting different places to see where I could find work and we could afford living. We are coming into Boise on Monday 30th Nov. and are trying to figure out where we could stay for a week. Something more spacious than a hotel room would help because we have 2 small kids (4 and 7), and we were hoping we could cook some to reduce spending. We are not looking for luxury, just clean and in safe neighborhood. Any suggestions? It could be out of town, since we have a car. Thanks

There are a couple extended-stay hotels in Boise. I believe there's one near the BSU campus, another off of I-84 and Vista, and another off of I-84 and Eagle Road in Meridian. I can't think of the names off the top of my head, but any of those locations put you near downtown Boise and/or major business districts. Extended stay hotels usually have a little bigger rooms with kitchenettes, etc..

What about hotels/motels? We're looking for Super 8 quality and pricing.

Try Rodeway Inn on Curtis Rd, in Boise. I believe they're having deals for $49.95 a night. It's clean and you'll be safe there, no worries. If you call and they don't offer that price let me know and I will make a call for you as I know someone who works there. I believe you get a free breakfast so maybe that's cheap enough where you could still afford to eat out every day.

Or try Boise Guest Hotel, they have kitchens and are right within downtown Boise, so you can walk around. Location is safe so you don't have to worry there. Call Eve Marie for reservations, tell her that Torrie sent you. She's really nice to work with 208-761-6798. I've had clients stay here and they really enjoyed the accomodations.

Have a great time!

Default Where to stay...

I'll second Torrie's recommendation of the Boise Guest House. My wife and I stayed there for 3 weeks last May while checking out the area and it was great. I would definitely stay there again!

Don't stay at Candlewood Suites! There are no amenities i.e. housecleaning, making up beds, emptying the trash, etc. Their prices are similar to the other hotels in the area. Their cancellation policy is you have to pay in full so we were unable to check out and go to another hotel. We visit family once a year and would recommend Homewood Suites. Clean, breakfast and a small dinner included.

We stayed at a few places, during our 12 day visit of Boise, and Central Idaho. Specifically, in Boise we stayed at Cambria Suites, The Modern, and Owyhee Plaza. Found a heck of deal at Cambria, $40/night via hotels.com. What a bargain that place was. The Modern was hip and close proximity to downtown. Owyhee Plaza was older, but they offered free breakfast at the adjacent resturant inside the hotel and quick acess to downtown too.
