So I just bought 2016 BMW X3 xDrive35i...w/ 73,000 miles on it.
Everyone I trust said it was a great deal and it was only owned by 1 person...the BMW dealer I got it from wouldn't certify it though because it was originally leased then bought by that person. They did replace tires and checked brakes and everything else just wouldn't certify it. So far I love driving it...I've only ever had Toyota's or Nissan's since college...My last car was a 2014 Nissan Rogue that unfortunately got totaled in a rear end collision when another person wasn't paying attention to the fact that I had stopped w/ my blinker on to turn left into a parking lot.
Going forward, is there anything I should watch for? I know this is the fist car I've had that I should put premium gas in...and I know it uses Synthetic blends so I can go up to 8K miles for oil changes...just looking for any kind of advice to make sure I keep her going well?

I'd probably replace the oil filter gasket and valve gasket proactively. They're weak spots. Keep an eye on oil level and for signs of leakage.
Water pumps on all BMWs are pretty iffy. I'd probably wait for that to fail though which generally will leave you stranded as it will tend to do it suddenly but lots of labor as is typical with a BMW, just expect it to cost twice as much as you're expecting... which actually that's pretty much what BMWs cost for anything anytime the hood goes up.
Otherwise it's not a bad vehicle. The N55 is a fair amount more reliable than the N54 that it replaced although it doesn't have the reputation the B58 that replaced it has for reliability.

I think BMW discontinued offering this engine in the X3 until the X3 m40i was introduced with the B58 engine.

Yes, When BMW introduced the 3rd generation X3 in 2018, they also used the new inline six (B58) in the X3 M40i. The 35i no longer exists.
