I think Whoever wins the NL doesn't have much chance against the Yankees, they are that good. Joe Torre is close to have the team where he would like them to be,IMO.

Of course the team that wins the west would have a chance vs the Yankees.

Suppose that the Yankees were a true talent 100 win team.

That means you'd expect them to win 100 out of 160 games (or 63% of games)
Let's say the NL West winner was a true talent 81 game winner (or 50%)

The Yankees would then have only 13% more chance of winning each game. Odds like that are easily overcome.

we need a talented hitter, end of story. the ownership simply does not have the cajones to take the risk and sign a big bat

I agree, they still need more hitting, but who would you have had them sign? Guys like Jason Bay were way over priced...he can't field and his numbers would have declined in SF anyway.

Personally, I wish they could get the Padres' Adrian Gonzalez. There were rumors. Thing is, supposedly the Padres wanted Matt Cain...same thing with the Brewers wanting Cain for Fielder (whom I don't like)..

I don't know about you, but I'm not ready to give up Cain or even Sanchez for anybody.....

I grew up in Santa Clara Co. ..much of my family still lives there.

It's Giants country....plain and simple..

Nobody cares about the A's. They're always at or near the bottom in attendance. They could leave and hardly anybody would notice..

So did I, and I'm smart enough to know when I'm being played by a ****ty corporate team. Maybe the enlightenment will spread your way someday.

We used to laugh at A's fans....when we could find one.

I've got an idea..Why don't you take your sniveling and start an A's thread....I'm sure it will get lots of action.. LOL

Btw, the A's are currently 28th in attendance. The Bay Area always has been and always will be Giants country.

I'm not an A's fan or even a baseball fan anymore. I was raised on the Giants but then became an adult and decided to refine my tastes. Neukom and Baer just happen to bother me so I hope their business fails. That's all, guy.
