Ok. I didn't know what it meant. Comes to mean "On Base plus slugging". A rating of .800 is a quality player. Then comes Ohtani. Born in a small town named Smallville. Nah!!! Just kidding. Still when last looked he was 10 - 5 as a pitcher, batting over .300 and 44 homeruns. As a young boy in a regional game according to Wikipedia he recorded 17 of 18 outs in a six inning regional game. Obviously other team forgot to bring Kryptonite. No matter what team you are picture having a player of this level of talent. Pretty amazing. If our Phillies had him those 10 - 11 wins would be big. Kyle Schwarber has an .800 OPS and though batting .195 he has over 70 walks and 41 Home Runs. I said in an earlier year post how'd you like to be an opposing pitcher and have to worry about lead off man going to put you 1 run down or be rattling you at first base. 77 walks in about 138 or 139 games. Think Philly fans might prefer the hits me "I like him just the way he is". Lol. Anyway OPS is a pretty impressive tool to judge quality. Just go to internet and look at players with high OPS. It says alot. Bryce Harper is up there and of course Superman is at the top. Think of this we may witness a player win a Cy Young Award, Batting crown, Home Run Crown and Golden Glove some day and his last name won't be Ruth. Wow!!!
