sold out NYY-TB game----very unusual for Rays to have a sell out, but usually opening day is one of them.....then they go back to 10-14k attendance per game.

I sold my ticket to opening day TB-NY - don't like the huge crowds.....

I love having a few extra games on the Sunday. I know Monday is the true opening day but it gives the fans something extra.

Attending my first ever Opening Day tomorrow. Would have loved for it to be in Detroit but, alas, it will be D-backs.

Zack Grienke trails the Giants 1-0 in the top of the second, and has already thrown 45 pitches, suggesting he will not be around very long.

Side note....the last time the Giants had a leftfielder who started there on consecutive Opening Days, his name was Barry Bonds. Since 2008, the Giants have had ten different Opening Day leftfielders. Today it is Jarrad Parker.

And, yet, I picked them to finish third in the AL East.....

Madison Bumgarner hit two home runs in today's game, the 15th and 16th of his career. This makes him:
A. The only pitcher ever to hit two home runs in an opening day game
B. The active leader among all pitchers for home runs
C. The Giants all time career leader in home runs by a pitcher

Bumgarner is 26 years old.

They have retaken the lead in the top of the 9th, so the bullpen will get a second chance to blow it.
