$15 is the cost of the kit. I assumed that almost anyone could put a little cement/glue on a rubber plug and stick it in the hole in the tire and then snip off the excess that sticks out. Why pay a mechanic $80 per hour to do something that simple?

This is the issue today. You mention "patch" but seems you mean "plug"? The tire can also be patched from the inside.

It is the better option. I say that as someone that has plugged many tires without a single problem with any of them.

Will a local tire shop mess with a motorcycle? I'd say unless they regularly do bikes they probably won't.

Is your life worth it? How about your family? Do you think they want you to takwe a chance on anyone just fixing a tire, of which you only have 2 you know?

1. Take it to a pro, not a Discount Tire place.
2. But a new tire!

Well, if we were talking about a car-tire, I would agree.

A vehicle where the risk of severe injury or death is so much higher if a tire blows, such as a motorcycle, I am going to go with the type of patch that is recommended by tire-professionals who specialize in repairing motorcycle-tires.
