Okay, so obviously this brings up my previous point early in the thread that small SUVs are unique and everyone will have different needs and tastes. It's hard to just say "This is the best small SUV, no contest." Maybe that's a reason this ridiculous thread is still going on 6 pages and counting!
That said, c'mon, the Crosstrek? That thing is just another egg-looking vehicle. It's a damn hatchback. It's not an SUV shape.
Today’s small SUVs are what people have moved to as they are practical and fit their actual needs.
The oversized dinosaur SUV of having to drive a big vehicle for people to satisfy their ego are over.
Reliability is where it is at and the Crosstrek is the benchmark.
2024 Subaru Crosstrek predicted reliability is the top at 99/100.
2024 Honda HR-V 85/100
2024 Toyota Corolla Cross 71/100
2024 Mazda CX-30 66/100
2024 Kia Seltos 51/100
2024 Chevrolet Trail Blazer 50/100
2024 Jeep Renegade 33/100
2024 Volkswagen Taos 18/10

Okay fine, shape is subjective and some people like the hatchback Crosstrek.
But you never answered the concern in this thread -the Crosstrek has only been out for 10 years and you've owned 3 of them. Any vehicle will be reliable (even abused ones) in the short time periods you owned those 3 cars. And here you are harping on how reliable they are and you have no experience with it.
I hope you realize that 2024 hasn't even started, not to mention the quality of the source, which is a complete nonsense. 'Predicted reliability'?
I can 'predict' that I'll score with Halle Berry, but we all know that ain't happening.
Anyway, Cross, and HR-V (and possibly Mazda) are out of that league when in comes to reliability. Let's review this in 15 years and see how many of each are on the roads still driving.
Yeah, my thoughts too.
RELIABILITY is a longitudinal study, that excludes vehicles a year old or less. As you say, let's look at these critters in even five years. But a "study" of current model year reliability is a contradiction in terms.
Hmmmmm, Just to correct matters. Consumer Reports has provided the reliability of these vehicles, not myself.
Reliability is a difficult to measure metric - you have to get information from multiple sources which includes different websites (not just CR), and experience from yourself and other people.
How does CR know the reliability of new models that have not been out that far? And we don't have information from you either since you had 3 Crosstreks in a short times span.
Subaru has been iffy in reliability in modern times - still pretty good, but you want to get the Corolla Cross and HRV if you want less headaches but even then, you don't know.
The oversized dinosaur SUV of having to drive a big vehicle for people to satisfy their ego are over.
Ego? Please. Not for 99% of people. You probably think people buy iPhones as status symbols too, yea?
You continue to lose all credibility with me...
People buy SUV's for 3 reasons.
1) Easier to get into, especially as we age. And easier to load for families.
2) People like to sit higher. They like to be able to see around other cars. Of course as more of these get sold it only exacerbates the issue. Now you can't see around traffic because everyone has one.
and a big one..
3) Safety. People truly believe they are safer in bigger SUV's. And...they are right. They are safer.
And yes to clarify, it was solely due to ego of who had the biggest vehicle on the block. Just like people used to have the mentality. My house is bigger than yours. My Expedition is bigger than your Chevy Tahoe and so on. None of which ever went any more off-road than CUVs LOL
So then the big ones must be the top sellers, right?
Then why isn't everyone driving an Escalade or a Suburban? Why are...Crosstreks so "popular" then? lol
You need to stop while you're ahead.
