I need to ship my car from a major city (Chicago) to another (Los Angeles or San Diego).
I am very annoyed that every single one of dozens of companies contacted all insist on DOOR TO DOOR service. That is very inconvenient for me because I'm on the move until my new house is ready. Drivers can't guarantee a pick-up or drop-off date which means I can't guarantee an address.
I would prefer to bring my car to a company's shipping hub in the Chicago area, drop it off, and then go pick it up myself from their arrival hub in California. Does any company do this? It should be much more profitable for them since they avoid the additional labor of two local towings.
They probably are afraid of the vehicle being stolen and then responsible for it, therefore dropping it off at your residence relieves them of that liability.
