Hello, I am the proud new owner of an 04 Mini Cooper S JCW and I have a question.
04 Mini Cooper S
75K miles
6-speed
First, when I'm driving and I let off the gas to slow down slightly, I hear a weird buzzing type noise--not really gear grinding, but it sounds like it could be "light gear grinding" if that's possible (I'm new at this, so I'm really not sure). The noise goes away as soon as I push the gas pedal again--no matter how slight.
Is this gear grinding? If not, is it a bad thing? I plan to get it checked out soon anyway.
There are a lot of different sounds this vehicle makes--I think it's mostly from the JCW tuning kit, plus I'm used to driving "normal" cars... are there any standard "bad" sounds that I should listen for?
Yea, I'm pretty sure that's the same noise.
The car shifts fine. I was worried that I was hurting the transmission by letting off the gas when I heard that noise.
My friend has an 06 JCW and I don't recall his making that noise...
The noise in that clip is just the supercharger, nothing to worry about.
