Looking at apartments on rent.com and other sites, it seems as though most apartments in Austin don't seem to have washers & dryers in the units. Most seem to have a laundry room or washer/dryer connections only. Is this common in Austin? Coming from Phoenix, most apartments have washers in the unit, so it seemed unusual. Any thoughts?

Also, to Austin Traveler, did apartments at Riata have washers?

Thanks!

Very few apartments have WDs. Riata might (at least in some of the units), as will some of the other more upscale apartments. Connetions are fairly common, though. For years, I used the laundromat then broke down and bought a set. I think you can also rent them, but not sure on quality/cost.

The village where we rented in Riata (The Enclave) only had hookups which was fine with us cause we needed to buy a washer and dryer. But, there was a laundromat in the village. It was right next to the car washing station. I loved this place! We hadn't lived in an apartment since the early 80's and believe me, our last one was nothing like this place.

I would call them though and ask cause like I said before (I think), they have seven different villages. Some may actually come with a washer/dryer.

You can usually rent washers/dryers through the apartment complex itself - that is what my mother in law did at Bridgehead. Or, Cort Furniture Rental may rent them as well.

I didn't realize that the complex sometimes will rent you the washer/dryer, what a great idea. Thanks, again, Gigi

I lived in two apartments over the last year and they both had washer and dryer included. Just make that one of the things you look for when you do your search and I'm sure you will find it!
