Hi all,

I am looking to buy some antique/old furniture, nothing expensive, just some good old wood stuff that could with some TLC turn into nice usable pieces. Craigslist is one option. There are some stores that come up on internet search, like Austin Antique Mall. Does anyone have any experience with stores around the area?

How do I come to know of fairs around Austin that might have furniture or house decorating odds and end for sale?

Thanks

I bought alot of my used furniture from "It's New To Me" on Burnet and a couple nice things also from Home Consignment Center off Mopac. Good prices, nice people, delivery available.
I also went to a couple of estate sales (try estatesales.net)

We used to go to an antique auction in Lockhart years ago that was a lot of fun and we picked up some nice pieces at low cost. I don't think that auction is still active but here is a list of hits on Texas Antique Auctions antique auction texas - Google Search

You are just in time to attend the RoundTop Antique Fair. You might find something you like and it is a fun drive and interesting event nevertheless:

If you have any interest in vintage furniture, Room Service Vintage often carries some great pieces for reasonable prices. I have no idea if they deliver though.

If you do the Round Top antiques weekend, note that the antiques show actually happens all around the town and in neighboring towns as well. http://www.antiqueweekend.com/indexmain.html I recommend driving through Round Top and going to the Warrenton flea market at some point during the day. It's massive, has tons of parking, and always some really great deals. I usually skip most of the Round Top stuff and just shop at it all day long. Cole's indoor show is also pretty good. Skip Marburger Farm, which I think has really missed the point of the festival by charging $10 for admission, unless you want some really high dollar antiques.
