www.SquareCowMoovers.com I have recommended them several times on this board and all have been as thrilled as I was. It's a local, family owned company. The owner will personally do your move. Call the owner, Wade.

I didn't have a good experience with two local moving companies in Austin. Longhorn was one and, I believe, Blue Whale was the other. In both cases too much reliance on muscle power and not enough on skill and using a handtruck or dolly when it would have been advisable. Failure, also, to adequately cover large pieces of furniture with furniture blankets before trying to get through the door or up and down a flight of stairs. These are all common problems with movers, whether national or local companies. I've experienced similar problems with them in the UK too. If you have large pieces of furniture you may as well just reconcile yourself to some of them getting damaged, I'm afraid. The only constructive advice I can offer is to absolutely insist at the outset what you require them to do in terms of protecting your furnishings while moving them in, out, and while in transit between points A and B.

I could not agree more with this rec. I just used them for an out of state move and I have never had a more positive experience. I got the rec from this board, too.

+1 on Squre Cow - they were late for my move, but more than made up for it by bringing extra guys and getting done quickly. The final price was hundreds less than not to exceed price. Good folks to work with.

if you're moving to chicago or kansas there's an express van line route at very good prices. I used it and its way cheaper. www.overland-park-movers.com/dallas-movers-tx.php check them out and i'm pretty sure you'll save a lot.
