My daughter was involved in a minor motor vehicle accident on 1/24/24 downtown Austin on Lavaca Street and West 15th street. Being this was her first motor vehicle accident, irrespective of what advice I had given her previously, she got zero information about the other person involved. All she got was an incident report number from the officer but I cannot seem to locate a report. I have tried an APD search and TXDOT to no avail. The number given to her is Tx24-105353.
Any advice?

You mentioned you performed an APD seach but I couldnt gather if that was through an online portal or calling them directly.

Any luck with calling APD directly and providing them to IR to see if they have record of it and if so, a date expectancy for the police report?

When I've been involved in fender benders in the past it was usually 2 - 3 weeks before a report was ready but it may take longer. If you did call them, what did they say when you gave them the IR?

Are you needing the report for insurance purposes?

I highly doubt TXDOT would handle the report. I don't think they are even responsible for the roads in Downtown Austin except for MoPac and I-35.

I called APD and they said that the number given by the officer is not an APD number or format. Thank you for replying.

It may take a while to get filed, but TxDOT will have a copy of the report that you can buy for $6-8. This is for crashes where someone was hurt or there was $1000+ in damages.

These are reports where, as stated above, the total damage of all involved exceeds $1,000.00.

I had a wreck on 1604 in San Antonio about 8 years ago, around the time of night when Sunday night turns into Monday morning. The wreck wasn't my fault, nobody got hurt. We waited about an hour and the police never showed up. I exchanged information with the other driver. I called a tow truck and turned it over to the Geico Insurance that I had at the time and they took care of everything. The police were not involved at all.

Technically the incident number doesn't have the TX, so it really is 24-105353. If you go to the APD free website to look up an incident, it won't come up (even if you format it correctly as 2024-105353, I'm guessing because there was no criminal activity involved, eg DUI). The only way I know of is to actually pay for the incident report at either the TXDOT url given above or at this website that APD forwards you to. Again, both methods require paying for the report.

The incident report that either of those sites gives you is good because it contains more info than the summary you get from the officer on the spot.

I just wanted to thank you all for the responses. I emailed the Texas Highway Patrol and eventually they emailed me a copy of the report. DPS was ultimately the agency that responded to the accident. Just for informational purposes, the report took one month and two days to be completed. Thanks again.
