I am fairly new to Austin, TX looking for a good and honest mechanic. Any suggestions please?

I have had good luck at Klingemann's (https://www.klingemanncarcare.com/) in the Oakhill area for most general service on the Nissan I used to have and my old Subaru. Our more recent Honda we always took to the dealer (Howdy Honda) and they were not that much more expensive and did an excellent job - but usually a week or two wait to get work done. Not sure if the Lexus dealership(s) are good or not, though.

Only place I would say for sure to avoid is Christian Brothers. I had to go there for an emergency repair (barely got the car there) and they charged me an arm and a leg - well over 2X the going rate most other places but a tow would have offset any savings. Researched them a bit afterward and found out that that is pretty much their norm .

Other than that, we have not needed anything major in years that wasn't under warranty.

Not South side at all, but the folks at Qualtech Automotive on 620 near Anderson Mill are great.

Second Qualtech. There is one on 71 in Bee Cave as well so that might be a little closer.

I totally trust these folks.

I like the guys at Capital City automotive on south Congress near Torchy’s. Drop off your car and then go get some coffee, food, or go shopping.

For the past 5 ir 6 years, I've always had good luck with Reliable Auto in Buda on 967 just west of 1826. It's a clean place, they do a good job, reasonable rates, and they seem to be quite honest. The few times I've had to take my car in, I've never had anything to complain about.

Not southside but we've had good dealings with Lawsons Automotive on 290. I do recommend them.
