Austin Bat Fest 2023

Hi,
We would like to go to Bat Fest this year (it will be our first time) to watch the bats fly and watch the costume contests (contest starts around 6:45 pm).

Wanted to know:
For those who have attended before and have experienced this event. How early should we get there for best /closer to the venue parking?
Which parking would work the best? the options are:
* PAID Parking: Palmer Events Center Garage, S. 1st and Riverside
* PAID Parking: One Texas Center 505 Barton Springs Road Austin, TX 78704
* PAID Parking: Various hotels in area both south and north of the river
* PAID Parking: The Long Center at 701 W Riverside Dr, Austin, TX 78704
* PAID PARKING: 100 N. Congress and the entrance to the garage is on Ceaser Chavez between Congress and Colorado

TIA

I just have to ask, does anyone on this forum ever go to the Congress St bridge to see bats? Is that really an 'Austin' thing or is that mainly a 'Tourist' thing?

It’s busy most nights during the season. I doubt it’s all tourists. But, if you want a real experience, hang out during sunrise and watch them dive bomb back to the bridge. That’s an experience.

As for bat fest, never been. I doubt you’ll get much feedback. This group has been dead from any actual insightful information for a long while.

I went to see the bats occasionally when I was in college and could walk/bike there - or just happened to be there. Now, it is pretty much a 'take your out of town guest' there type of thing.
