I just became aware that I have an "unfinished business" in Round Rock, so I may have to travel there quite recently.

What is the Covid situation? Any ongoing lockdown, curfew or mandates? Things are back to normal?

What would you consider a good hotel? By good its not limited to the hotel itself, but also the location. Namely good restaurants nearby (within walking distance would be ideal) and centrally located (unless RR is one of those places with "no there there," if you know what I mean.)

Thanks

Are you vaccinated? If you’re vaccinated you should not have any concerns. If you’re not mask up and go about your business.

The Austin Marriott North is in the La Frontera Shopping district of Round Rock. Several chain restaurants are within easy walking distance. A Hyatt Place is next to it also.

If you prefer boutique hotels, the Ruby Hotel & Bar is close (Several blocks through the old neighborhood) to the “downtown” district of Round Rock with its bars & local restaurants.

Round Rock is open. Almost no places requiring masks. In the county last week... (5k residents) there were 91 covid cases. You will see a mixture of masks/no masks in every venue.

I agree with the Marriott in La Fronteria suggestion. Multiple restaurants and shopping within a few blocks.

If you looking for a fun place to stay and don't mind 10-15 mins drive to RR (of course could be longer depending on where you actually need to be in RR), check out one of the hotels in the Domain - archer, aloft, westin. More or less an outdoor high end mall + dozens of places to eat/drink. I suspect something like that is what you are looking for - Downtown RR itself is pretty small, and the rest is largely strip mall central.

As mentioned, pretty much back to business as usual here.
