I’m moving from NY to Austin for work and I’m not sure where I should live. I don’t really want to be with a ton of college kids but I also don’t want to live in an area with a bunch of families or married couples. My office is in North Austin but I only have to go in 2-3 times a week so traffic is not a big factor. Ideally I would like to be in or near downtown or in an area with other singe young professionals that has a good night lift and fun things to do walking distance. Any advice on neighborhoods would be much appreciated

Depending on your budget, I'd look at Zilker, South Lamar, Bouldin, Travis Heights, Clarksville and some pockets just east of Downtown.

Those aren't cheap, but close to a lot of places to go out. Lots more areas we could recommend depending on what you're hoping to speak.

I’m used to Manhattan prices I’m looking to spend 2k or ideally less a month.

2k won’t get you downtown, it will barely get you a larger new “luxury” apartment in the outskirts of hip areas. Since work is north I’d start with the domain. Lots of 20 somethings love the domain. But all the other spots mentioned are good too. If also look into the south Lamar area.

You can get $2k (or more, of course) in some the areas I mentioned above. A family member just moved into a very nice unit not far from Barton Springs Rd/Lamar with a similar budget. Loves having everything so close and there's plenty of nightlife nearby. A lot of the residents in his building are in mid to late 20s or early 30s.

Yea, I know someone paying $2,500 Mo for a 1 BR on Red River just north of UT, between Dean Keaton & 38th.

I know that is college town area but not sure if the OP's mentioned neighborhoods will be significantly more affordable.

according to apartments.com, you can live downtown for 2k or a bit below. Go a little further out and you can definitely find apartments for that price.

or you just might give the domain a chance since you are working north. it is close enough to downtown, you can take "public transit" to downtown if you desire and it has that walkability factor. It is a bit cheaper.
