We are thinking about building a pool if our next house does not already have one. Coworker of mine has recently gone through the bidding process for a concrete pool and said anything decent with decking etc was around $100k. I have just started looking into fiberglass pools and they appear to sound a bit less expensive, but was wondering if anyone has recently shopped or installed one.

I did look through prior threads and there isn't anything recent on fiberglass pools in Austin that I could find.

fiberglass is going to cost about the same as a concrete pool. They can be built faster and are easier to maintain. You save the concrete, rebar, and surfacing, but the pools themselves cost about that much. All the other stuff you still need.

100K for a basic pool is cost inflation. A basic pool with spa and good equipment should be about 60K (on limestone).

In houston pools are going for 30K, 40K with a spa.

For a 30x15x5 pool (without decking) it should be something like
design 2-3K
dig hole in limestone 15K (1K on dirt)
rebar 1K
shotcrete (125/cubic yard) 5K
plumbing 5K
electrical 5K
pool equipment 5K
surface quartz- 3K
coping/tile 2K
decking $20/sq ft
GC markup 30% - 13.5K

~60K on limestone, less on dirt.

Austin has a labor premium and some labor can be twice as much, but that doesnt mean they are twice as good.

Pool builders use the same few rebar companies, shot crete companies, and surfacing companies.

There is a company byop.net that makes plans and sells equipment. They will put you in touch with the subs and can give you an idea of what the costs should be.

This company will do the dig, rebar, and part of the plumbing (not connecting to equipment)
