We are thinking about buying a house in the Cantarra Neighborhood of Pflugerville. I work downtown. I leave early in the mornings so 35 is not that bad, but I was wondering if there is a rough estimate of what tolls would cost if I took 130 to 71? I am not too familiar with the tolls, and tried to use an online calculator, but it gives varying answers.

Also, if anyone has any insight of this area, I would greatly appreciate it. Our son is starting high school next year, and want him to go to a good one. He would be attending Hendrickson.

I would think 130 to 290 would make much more sense. Takes you out of the way. As fast as cost I would guess 5 or 6 bucks one way.

Yeah, 71 would be way overshooting it.

You need to double check the school boundaries. I'm 99% positive that's Weiss HS, not Hendrickson.

Okay 290 does make a lot more sense. I have only been on 130 a handful of times.

Glad you posted this! I took a look at the boundaries today and it is Weiss High School. Any feedback on it? I guess they had to add a HS to accommodate all of the building up there.

It's a little early to say, unfortunately. They won't have a senior class until the 2020 year.

Tolls will add up, don't bother with them. Using 35, your commute should be in the 40 minute range. Weiss is a brand new high school. You can take the glass half full or half empty approach - you can view things as "it's a new school and can be great" or "it's not an established school and the uncertainty". Hendrickson has been around and is the better Pflugerville HS. You also have to consider the areas that feed into the schools. Hendrickson pulls in kids from the higher performing PISD schools and most of the better neighborhoods zone to Hendrickson. I don't know how much you're paying for Cantarra, but I'd move to the neighborhoods that feed into Hendrickson even if it tacks on extra commute time.
