Cycling Shoes (Austin, Spring: sales, live, triathlon)

Are there any cyclers on this forum?

My son is looking for a specific kind of biking shoes for Christmas and I’m looking for suggestions of places in Austin that would sell biking shoes.

I know REI is one, but are there any other bike shops in Austin that I can check if REI does not have them?

I'd look at bike sales web sites on the internet. Most of the larger bicycle stores have an internet presence.

Yeah, I’ve looked online everywhere and can’t find the ones he’s looking for or either not in his size, so I was hoping to maybe find some locally.

I live east, but I’m downtown mostly, but I don’t mind driving anywhere in the area to find what I’m looking for.

Have you tried Mellow Johnny’s? On Nueces? Pretty sure they can order them if they’re not already in stock.

Performance Bicycle store carry a lot of good cycling gears. They have brick-and-mortar stores in Austin.

Surprisingly the most friendly and least pretentious bike shop in Austin!

Mellow Johnny's has a special place in my heart. I got a flat at the start of CapTex triathlon a few years ago and a spectator nearby the course drug me over to get air in my tire because it was my first tri and I was sooo unprepared. They filled it up in a hot second and I finished the race. 8th from last, but I finished.

There is also Bicycle Sport Shop on Lamar near Barton Springs. Are these road bike shoes or mountain biking shoes?

if you are looking for something specific you are better off looking online. I look locally for things I have to try on. Maybe post what you are looking for.
