I am not from Houston and I did a google search but none of them reveals the price.

Any ideas?

Peace Point at Town Lake Metropolitan Park, 2200 S Lakeshore Blvd, Austin, TX 78741. Take the trail out on the penninsula into the lake. There is a covered pavilion at the end with a couple benches. Its been awhile since I walked the park on shore, there may be a few picnic tables along there, or you could spread a blanket anywhere in the city park near there.

You can also walk the boardwalk along and into the lake West of there. https://www.austintexas.gov/departme...and-bike-trail

Not sure how being from Houston(or not) would impact your search for a picnic area.

I am completely confused, nearly all picnic areas are free -- exceptions would be a state park or private land. Find a local park, find a picnic table, done.

I am in South Austin, but we used to be North. I like Walnut Creek Park for the north, I agree with the other posters for the downtown parks. South Austin has fewer choices. So I would stick with the choices in this feed.

Loved having picnics at Emma Long City Park. It's right on Lake Austin.

That's not free though, there is an entry fee. OP asked for free ones.

The grounds at the Texas Capitol are good for this. Not sure what the policy is but if you are discreet with your libations that'll work too.
