I would not want to live near a cemetery but I would be ok with the driveway through the backyard.

From a Feng Shui perspective, it's a minus. Just think about it for a minute.

I live against a greenbelt with an old historical cemetery right behind it. It's small with only 5 graves and it's fenced in a wrought iron enclosure.

When we first moved into our home 10 years ago, our daughter who was 6 at the time would always talk about the girl "in the woods". All the neighborhood kids talked about the "girl" they would see at different points and times, too. They all even had this hide and seek game they would play with her.

Our next door neighbors even had a priest come out and cleanse their home because they were having "paranormal" issues.

I never really thought much about it, just figured kids being kids and crazy people being crazy people. I'm not religious and skeptical so I don't think much about the afterlife, ghosts, etc.

Well, one day not long ago we went hiking around out in the green belt to explore around, and came across the old cemetery. One of the gravestones was a young girl and the dates of her death would have made her about the age of the girl the kids said they see "in the woods"

Realistically, it could have been totally coincidental, but I have to admit it did give me the creeps there for a minute.

LOL great story, and now I will definitely *never* buy a house near a cemetery.

There's a cemetery in Steiner with about 5 graves including the graves of 2 children. It is right next to two homes but you'd have to walk around to see it.

I don't believe in any paranormal BS. I think cemeteries are peaceful for the most part except during Memorial Day or Veterans Day. I know we used to visit all the graves of our relatives on Memorial Day, man or woman, service or no service, that day and that was the only day of the year we would do it and the cemetery was always crowded that day.

I have done genealogical work for years, and (for whatever reason) find cemeteries to be very calming and not at all disturbing. Heck, I visit them multiple times a year to 'fill in the blanks' for people on 'Find a Grave' (https://www.findagrave.com/)

Yes I find cemeteries to be calming as well. It probably has something with the way I view the afterlife. I view the afterlife as an eternal slumber and we all like sleeping.

My mum, always trying to combine activity and learning, took us to the old cemetery near our house a few times with charcoal crayons and butcher paper. She would tell us to make etchings of the oldest and newest graves, the oldest and youngest ages buried there, etc. It began a lifelong fascination of cemeteries for me. Some of the best ones I've visited here in TX is the Lajitas Cemetery, and Pioneer Park in Dallas. They provide a calm place for a little reflection, and have many stories to share. They do not frighten me.

That said, I'll never be buried in one.

Yes! I lived here for a few years before I knew about those graves. They are actually not far from my house, and I just stumbled upon them as I was out walking one day. A friend of mine used to live in the house right next to them. She said that on Halloween, kids will put candy on the graves because apparently some of the buried were children.

The only cemeteries I'm scared of are in New Orleans, but that's because they are gathering spots for drug and criminal activity.
