It goes to SA, Houston and Dallas. Couldn't get all that in header. What did you experience? I would be going during week not on a weekend. I'm assuming they don't fill it up?

Thanks for replies.

I took it once to Houston and back. No problems to report and price was good. It didn't fill up, probably half full.

I like that they had wifi and only one stop en route in Katy.

They have upgraded their station in Austin since I took it so my only advice is to buy early to get the best deals.

My mother in law takes it from Houston to Austin and back at least once a month. She likes it so much, she's stopped driving here at all. Usually very on schedule, cheap, and comfortable.

I used them once to go from Austin to Dallas. Unfortunately they left at 4p from UT, so we hit traffic going N until Georgetown. Besides that, they were okay. However, I didn't like that their "pre-assigned seats" in the front row had very little legroom.

Any updates on Megabus? DW is thinking of going to Dallas a day or two before I would drive up, collect her and continue our trip to Mississippi. Prices vary quite a bit; but $25 to $54 seems pretty reasonable for a relatively quick trip.

I have had several friends take the Megabus between Austin and Dallas. No issues and great pricing.

I tried Megabus when they first arrived, and it was nice and super cheap. I have a brother in law who regularly uses it and has had no issues. If you want a fancier ride, still cheaper than last minute airfare, there is also Vonlane.

Thanks for the updates. Vonlane looked to be quite a bit more expensive(like double at least); but I didn't dig around too much on their site.

DW is waffling on the Dallas trip...OK with me since it's a fair bit out of the way to stop there for lunch and THEN head east for another 400 miles

Yeah, it's definitely more expensive (typically $79-100 per trip), but still cheaper than airfare most of the time and I've heard it's very nice. We use it for our employees business travel between Austin-Houston-Dallas, but I've never actually tried it. The wife and I have a similar scheduling conflict over the holidays, so I'm thinking I might try it, although I may end up flying, renting a car or doing the megabus instead.

Interesting...after 18 years in the airline biz, DW doesn't prefer to fly except on longer trips. It's looking like we will just make the direct drive to MS and save the Dallas side-trip for another time. I'll update IF she ends up taking one of the "shuttles".
