I know this is a seriously long long-shot but I figured it was worth a try.

I was driving home on 360 (Capital of Texas Highway) last night when I was rear-ended pretty hard; this occurred between 6:10 and 6:15 pm. We were in the far left lane at the last stoplight (Barton Creek mall light) before you can exit right to get onto South Mopac. The truck that hit me fled the scene as quick as he could.

I saw him rapidly cut across the other lanes and exit toward South Mopac. It was very dark so I couldn't read the license plate or see any details through my rear-view mirror; all I know is it was a truck :/ I was driving a tan/gold Toyota Corolla.

Luckily, I'm okay for the most part (aside from back and neck pain from the whiplash), but I hate to think that this guy is on the road driving unchecked- he had no idea how seriously I may have been injured when he decided to flee.

If you happen to be one of the many people who he cut off in his effort to avoid taking responsibility or have any info about this incident, please let me know.

That sucks. Glad to hear you're at least OK.

Call your insurance company and file a police report - there are traffic cameras in that area that may assist in identifying the vehicle involved.

A pick-up truck? Did you see if it was big (long-bed/dually, extended cab, etc) or small? If it wasn't a pickup, was it a small flat bed, etc? Make sure you do report it to the police, in any case.

Thanks for the responses so far.

I filed a police report last night; the cop came out and looked at the car.
I checked online for traffic cameras and it doesn't look like there's one at that intersection; it's one of the mall entrance/exit drives.
Unfortunately I didn't really see much of anything because it's pretty much completely dark out on 360 at night. I never imagined that he would speed off, so while I was looking in the rear view mirror, I was splitting my attention between trying to read his plate and seeing if I could get across traffic to pull over. I think it was a smallish pickup truck.
