We need another big employment anchor downtown. The Cyber Center is definitely helping speed up residential growth. The Medical District doesn’t really help, because they’re building housing around there separate from downtown.

In reality, there aren't that many people that actually work at they cyber center doing actual cyber work. The vast majority of employees of companies with offices in there (BAE, Perspecta) work on Ft. Gordon within NSA or Army Cyber Command spaces and live in Columbia County. Maybe that will change if IT companies, not looking for Federal dollars, actually set up shop in the downtown area.

’The development aligns with the small multifamily housing boom downtown’

Developers wouldn’t be spending millions of dollars building hundreds of residential units near the Cyber Center. If the vast majority of employees are working on Fort Gordon and living in another county. It wouldn’t make business sense. Ivey is a local company from Evans who is behind Millhouse Station on 11th street. Even they realize let’s build housing downtown.

There’s definitely people working in cyber down there. Parsons is actually located in both buildings downtown. Augusta University students also use the cyber center.

Parsons is a defense contractor my friend. They are in the cyber center to help secure federal contracts at Ft. Gordon. That's why these companies are here. And it really doesn't matter what developers are doing down town. The vast majority of the workforce is on customer site and prefer to live in CC with their families.

And the GCC director? Eric Toler, former commander NSAG. The cyber center will have a huge impact on Fort Gordon/CC but not as much on the existing Augusta residents as much as people might think.

I know exactly what Parsons does. The NSA has also been here since 2012.

You obviously just wanted to include Columbia Cty into the discussion. The article is about new residential downtown. It does matter what developers are doing. Ivey Homes is a local based company from Evans who builds single family homes. They decided to build a 155 unit residential building downtown.

And is that suppose to be a quote? Because you didn’t share the article. It’s not in context, because Fort Gordon is in Augusta. The school on Fort Gordon is a Richmond County school. Of the course it won’t impact places like East Augusta.

Your the same person who told someone on here all the schools in Columbia Cty are better than Richmond County besides the private and magnet schools. When someone can literally go to sites like Great Schools and see Grovetown middle and elementary scored a 4.

1. The NSA has been here for 25 years. If you speak on something, make sure you have knowledge of the subject.

2. Funny how when CC gets positive news, many times in the national media for being a great community, that you're nowhere to be found? Is CC not a part of the metro area you pump day and night? Is this not supposed to be a symbiotic relationship? You simply hate CC for the success it's had.

3. Who cares what school is on Fort Gordon? Those are the children of mostly transitional military parents. Know where the overwhelming majority of the other parents send their kids? Columbia County.

4. The schools in CC are vastly better than RC. Get over it. And yes, I would for certain send my kids through Grovetown, a community that gets more prosperous by the day, over ANY RC school.

5. My primary goal is never to pump Columbia County. It's to give potential residents the TRUTH about the area based on what they are looking for. I'm not the one on more than one medium singing the praises of a city that can't even agree on how to efficiently spend taxpayer dollars. A water park? GTFO.
