Much of Shreveport's skyline is directly related to Louisiana gambling laws. Most of the taller buildings downtown are casinos/hotels. It is only three hours from Dallas and a favorite weekend destination for many Texans.

Yea, I was aware butt even without the couple casino's along the river... They still have a number of corporate towers that Augusta just doesn't have currently and a better skyline. It is what it is, I guess Shreveport has capitalized on their situation and proximity to larger cities. Augusta is in a similar situation and should learn from that.

DDA released the April 2016 report.

A mid-rise or high-rise could be a option. R360 & Daniel Communities are looking at riverfront propertiesin East Augusta.

Working with two local developers on mixed-use projects.
Working with R360 and Daniel Communities on mixed-use opportunities.
Preliminary site visits with multi-family housing prospect March 14th
Working with a local developer on multi-tenant project/medical district.

Expect the skyline to change if it's referencing the Daniel Communities from Birmingham and Atlanta. Both of the properties in East Augusta are 4 to 10 acres..

Not saying they're not, but where did you get the looking at "riverfront property and on the East side of Augusta" from? Didn't see that in the report anywhere. I hope so, I just know I have seen many similar statements on those reports before that have resulted in nothing as well. We'll have to see, hopefully the momentum that has built recently can see that something substantial will happen sooner rather than later.

The properties are definitely in East Augusta along the Riverfront. It's not included in the report. What similar statements have you seen that resulted in nothing? This is listed under 'other' and 'downtown programs'.. Augusta is listed on the R360 website..
r360/ Retail Consulting/ Birmingham, AL

This is everything listed under 'other' ... Anything included in the DDA reports are legitimate. It doesn't automatically mean something will happen immediately or in a few months.

Met with three interested property owners for GCF Loans/Total of approximately 30,000 SF and
$650,000 in loan requests/Letters of Intent forthcoming.
Boots Factory Ribbon Cutting on January 13, 2016/85 percent leased.
Working with Fruitland Vodka for rental space downtown.
Showing available sites to prospective Brewery/World of Beer locating on Washington Road.
Working with two local developers on mixed-use projects.
Met with SC Brewery April 13th/Meeting next week to look at available space on Broad.
Working with R360 and Daniel Communities on mixed-use opportunities.
Preliminary site visits with multi-family housing prospect March 14th

912 Ellis St Augusta, GA, 30901 - Apartments for Rent | Zillow
Available for move in IMMEDIATELY...a must see! Beautifully restored, energy efficient Lowrey Wagon Works Building with exposed beams throughout the building. All the units are unique and have restored hardwood floors, blinds, dishwashers, microwaves, refrigerators with icemakers, disposals and full size stoves. …

2 new operations will end city's beer-making drought | The Augusta Chronicle
The idea is that locals will recognize the local brand and seek it out. That is similar to the strategy being employed by Atlanta resident Yuri Kato, the driving force behind Fruitland Augusta, a peach vodka brand she launched two years ago and is now trying to get located in downtown Augusta.

R360 does a number of things... They have anything in Augusta that isn't retail or fast food/dining?

You said it yourself, these reports don't necessarily mean that something will happen immediately... But the downtown Hyatt Place is one good example among others that I don't recall that didn't happen. Not everything mentioned I expect to be built, that's unrealistic, I just hope that this potential mixed-use does come to fruition. Especially if it's a large scale development.

Not completely sure what all belongs to R360 ..

The Hyatt Place hotel is much different. The DDA Director Reports only go back to July 2011. Hyatt Place was proposed around 2008/2009 and didn't show up first in any DDA report. It was connected to the TEE Center when the developer first proposed it. Don't forget the developer was held up waiting on the city's decision to choose the correct location.

Considering four different mixed-use projects are being discussed. The potential of coming of fruition is on the side of Augusta. The 700 people working at Unisys don't all want to live in the suburbs. More potential residents work and go to school in the nearby Medical District. I'm hoping along with you a large scale development can get the ball rolling.
