Hi all, we got into a contract for a house in the Medlock Bridge subdivision in Johns Creek. The house is great but want to ask folks here how the community and that neighborhood? The schools zoned for the house are Medlock Bridge elementary, Autrey Mill Middle, and Johns Creek HS.

Any insights you could provide would be much appreciated. Thanks!

The only insights that I might be able to provide you with are that the area in question (the Medlock Bridge Subdivision in Johns Creek) is an affluent residential community that generally experiences very little crime.

Medlock Bridge Elementary School is an above-average rated school, and Autrey Mill Middle School is an extremely highly-rated school.

Johns Creek High School has a reputation for having a noticeably competitive social environment at times in some social circles, but is overall an extremely highly rated school that also can feature a noticeable degree of academic competitiveness.

All three schools are ‘majority-minority’ schools where racial and ethnic minorities make up growing majorities of the schools’ student populations.

Even though all three schools generally are very highly rated, there’s still no substitute for good and consistent (and even sometimes vigilant) parental involvement in children’s lives and educations as the recipe that can guarantee academic success.

The biggest problem with the area very likely will be the very heavy traffic on nearby major thoroughfares like GA-141 Medlock Bridge Road and State Bridge Road, which both experience very heavy traffic throughout much of the day, especially during morning and afternoon/evening peak traffic hours.

Otherwise, the Medlock Bridge Subdivision is located in an area that is LOADED with suburban metropolitan and regional amenities in Johns Creek, North Fulton County, North/Northeast metro Atlanta and North Georgia.

GA-141 Medlock Bridge Road has so much traffic because there seemingly is every amenity imaginable (including numerous upscale shops, restaurants, grocery stores, department stores, movie theaters, services, etc.) located along the entire GA-141 corridor through Gwinnett, North Fulton and Forsyth counties.

Meanwhile, GA-141 southbound can take one towards the urban metropolitan amenities of Atlanta, while GA-141 northbound (via GA-400/US-19 northbound) can take one towards the very popular and very much beloved scenic outdoor recreational amenities of the Appalachian foothills and Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia, Western North Carolina and Western Tennessee… Including the popular Lake Lanier in the Appalachian Foothills of outer-suburban/exurban Northeast metro Atlanta and the popular Chattahoochee National Forest mountain wilderness area of North Georgia.

Not to mention that major community gathering and event hubs like Peachtree Corners and the historic downtown village areas of Duluth and Norcross and the emerging regional social gathering and event hub of Alpharetta (including Alpharetta City Center and Avalon) are located relatively very nearby.

Johns Creek High School is a Mean Girls school? Do the football players also put the chess team in lockers? Its like the 80s all over again.

This area of Johns Creek is fantastic.

As B2R mentioned, this area is an ideal location. In fact, we've been in southern Johns Creek for the past 2.5 years and I'd go far enough to say that Medlock Bridge/St. Ives/ Perimeter Church area is the only area I'd consider moving to in the near future.

There are tons of amenities such as Peachtree Corners Town Center, Duluth (food), Avalon and easy access up to the mountains from this area. Traffic can be heavy but manageable. There's a publix, Home Depot and Target right there as well.

Schools are excellent. As others have mentioned, Johns Creek High School is where the cool, rich kids go to school. LOL. Socially competitive but with excellent academics.

I'm not sure if they have moved into Medlock Bridge, but I will reiterate that it's a fantastic area close to a TON of amenities.
You really can't go wrong with Medlock Bridge.

I would however just suggest you check realtor.com or their app to make sure the home you're looking at is not in a flood zone. There are parts of St. Ives and Medlock Bridge that are.

Good luck!
