No other city touches Atlanta regarding nice suburbs and residential areas. It just dealing with the awful traffic to get home.

Nah...there are suburbs that have commuter rail where you dont have to be stuck in traffic.

Boy are you wrong. The suburbs of DC metro by itself puts Atlanta suburbs to shame in most categories. Particularly northern Virginia.

True.

And the sad part is that Metro Atlanta/Atlanta Suburbs could implement a super-expansive commuter rail network pretty quickly - if the political will was there.

It really depends on what you are looking for. As others have said, Suwanee is more affluent, and has good schools. I personally think that "Good schools" is over-rated. Lots of kids do great at schools that wouldn't be considered particularly good. In fact, it can be easier for an engaged student that puts in the effort at a "lesser" school to get into a good university than it can be for a good student at a "good school". Volumes can be written on that topic, but I'll just leave it there.

I've lived in two different parts of Suwanee since 2011. I've lived in a very nice part of Suwanee in Gwinnett county, and now I live in a very nice part of Suwanee in South Forsyth. This is called the "unincorporated" part of Suwanee because it's technically outside of the city limits, still in the 30024 zip code, even better schools, and lower taxes. I far prefer the South Forsyth part of Suwanee to anywhere in Gwinnett county.

I also spend a lot of time in Duluth. That's where we go for restaurants and coffee shops. Not sure that I'd really like living in Duluth. Personally, the other towns on your list would rank far below Suwanee, to me.

Now...having said all of that, Suwanee is a giant suburb, and as boring as any suburb could possibly be. At the end of the day, you have loads of nice neighborhoods and houses, and monotony out your ears. After 12 years, we've had enough. Can't get out fast enough. Heading over to Milton. Not that Milton is everyone's cup of tea, you may want to check it out.

I actually prefer the Gwinnett part of Suwanee around Moore Road (River Club with some homes in the 8 figures) and Level Creek Road over the Forsyth part. But I'll choose the Forsyth part of Suwanee over the other Gwinnett parts.

I'm with you - that Gwinnett part of Suwanee, around Moore Rd, is where we moved from when coming over to the Forsyth part. Nothing to complain about there! Great area, nice neighborhoods. For us, it just added substantial commute time for where we typically go.

You can still get a lot of house in the $3-5 million range out there.
